The May 'Malaspina Art Society' art show will be by the Powell River Brain Injury Society Creative Expressions Brain Art Studio.
This show will feature the work of several artists. They each have their own distinctive style. There will be displays of painting both in watercolor and acrylic, sketching using various mediums, metal sculpture and other types of art sculpture.
Opening reception Thursday May 10, 7-9pm.
Art show runs May 10 to June 5.

VIU Horticulture Spring Plant Sale to be held in front of the Welcome Centre on Tuesday May 22 from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM. We will be offering our gorgeous colourful 12 inch spring hanging baskets for sun or shade along with the 6 inch potted Martha Washington Geraniums. The prices are $25.00 for the baskets and $4.00 each for the geraniums or 3 for $10.00. Tax is included in our price.All of our plants are grown pesticide free in our greenhouses.

The VIU Cowichan Innovation Lab will host a lecture by Dr. Lynne Siemens on "Creative Industrial Clusters" at the Cowichan campus on May 24 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. Dr. Siemens has done extensive research on small, rural businesses on Vancouver Island and will outline ways in which the clustering of creative individuals with common goals and desired outcomes has lead to success for many small Island businesses. This lecture will be followed with a wine tasting event, which will highlight local innovative food and wine producers.
