Donor Privacy

Vancouver Island University is committed to protecting every donor’s privacy. We will not lend or sell your information to any organization. We take every step to ensure the confidentiality of your information. We adhere to the Donor Bill of Rights and the provincial Freedom of Information and Protection of Policy Act and operate under a code of ethical principles and standards of professional practice.

We guarantee that:

  • 100% of your gift will be directed as indicated on our donation agreement.
  • You will receive an appropriate acknowledgement of your donation including a thank you and a charitable receipt (if donation is more than $20).
  • If you are an annual donor or if you have an endowment you will receive our PDF Annual Report of Giving outlining the financial status of our endowment, our annual fund and the disbursements for the year. 
  • You will receive special appeals from us during the year. If you do not wish to receive these appeals, please contact Susie Caswell, Development & Alumni Office, Major Gifts & Legacies, at 250.740.6216 and your name will be removed from these appeals.
  • We will always strive to keep our fundraising and administrative costs to a minimum.
  • You will be treated with respect and professionalism in all your dealings with VIU Development & Alumni Office staff.
